YOUR OWN PRIVATE BOOTH AND EASY ACCESS TO THE BAR
We recently trialled Cineworld ‘VIP’ seats at Wandsworth Cineworld in London. Today we take a look at what VIP seats actually are and whether they are worth the extra cost.
VIP Cineworld seats are located in a separate booth at the back of the cinema. The booth has a glass screen through which you look out over the whole cinema. Each VIP booth holds between 8 and 20 people.
Advantages of VIP seats are that they are larger than regular seats, you’re seated separately from the masses and that you get access to the bar before, during and after the movie.
In regards to whether VIP seats actually boost your viewing experience, the jury is out. Sitting behind a glass screen possibly detracts from the whole cinema experience and it almost feels as if you are watching a TV instead of sitting in a cinema. Having said that, the larger seats were definitely appreciated as regular seats often have minimal legroom.
VIP seats only cost only a small premium over regular tickets (£14.40 vs £10.30). However, if you sign up with MyCineworld and book online, you automatically save 10%, bringing the cost down to £12.96 per ticket. You also won’t have to bother queuing up for tickets before the movie, which is definitely a benefit.
VIP seats would be ideal if you were heading to the cinema with a large group of friends and you booked out the entire VIP booth, or if you simply just wanted a little more privacy than regular cinema seats offer. A hot date could be a good excuse to purchase VIP seats instead of regular seats.
In summary, for the small extra cost, VIP seats are definitely worth sampling for the unique experience.
