KICKSTART YOUR MORNING AFTER WITH HANGOVER JOE’S
The hangover recovery drink/supplement market is growing like never before, with new brands hitting the shelves seemingly every week.
As always, we’re here to sift through the maze of choices to keep your party going through the summer season.
We’ll be reviewing several new brands in the coming weeks and today, we begin with Hangover Joe’s, a recovery/energy drink designed specifically to combat the chemical effects of a hangover by rapidly restoring the antioxidants and supplements your body needs.
Hangover Joe’s is similar in size/shape to the ubiquitous 2 oz. energy shot supplements on store shelves these days (Five Hour Energy, Rockstar, Monster, etc). But the similarities end there. Those products are simply concentrated versions of their respective energy drinks, just in a 2 oz container instead of a 16 oz one.
Hangover Joe’s takes a different approach. Like those drinks it packs caffeine (a huge 220 mg, roughly equal to 1.5 cups of coffee), but combines this with a proprietary blend of all natural ingredients to deliver a powerful shot of nutrients to your system.
It packs a standard antioxidant blend found in many recovery drinks: a strong shot of B vitamins (B6 and B12), taurine, niacin, riboflavin, folic acid and thiamin.
It combines this standard base of antioxidants with its patent pending “Get Up and Go” blend consisting of: kudzu (a popular herb used in Chinese medicine shown to aid headaches and aid the liver in detoxification), theobromine, amino acids tyrosine and phenylalanine, and various herbal/fruit extracts.
Hangover Joe’s is currently produced in just one flavor – Berry Blast. The taste is palatable, not great but not bad, best described as a sour cherry candy flavored energy drink.
Hangover Joe’s Review
Let’s get to the million dollar question. Does it work?
We put the product to the test among friends and clients after a full-scale night out and it works. Fast.
In fact, fast is an understatement. When it comes to speed of delivery, Hangover Joe’s follows through on its promise with a serious punch. Once we took the shot, we felt it really kick in within 15 minutes. You could literally feel the recovery shot restarting your system.
As caffeine aids in speeding absorption into your bloodstream, it came as no surprise to feel such quick relief. Similar to how Excedrin – a popular hangover remedy of acetaminophen, aspirin and caffeine – hits the system with rapid effect, you feel the quick jolt of caffeine followed by a gentle easing of any headaches you may have from the night before.
As a natural product, Hangover Joe’s contains no such medications of course, but the caffeine-driven speed with which it hits your system is comparable.
Be warned though – although it works very well, this product is no gentle-wake up call. Your appeal for this particular hangover remedy will most likely hinge on your preference/tolerance for caffeine, and caffeine is not a recommended hangover remedy for everyone.
If you are at all sensitive to caffeine or herbal medicines and still want to take Hangover’s Joe’s, we recommend taking it with food to slow the absorption, since it packs a considerable jolt if taken first thing in the morning on an empty stomach.
We were impressed both with the product’s effectiveness and its fast-acting speed, and fully recommend it as a quick jolt on mornings after a high speed night out when you need to get up and be alert.
Hangover Joe’s is based in Colorado and, in an interesting twist of marketing, operates with official license of The Hangover film franchise, even using the film’s logo on its packaging.
The product is currently available in U.S. and Canada in various convenience stores and casino properties, with future plans to expand to Asia.Thankfully, it can be ordered and shipped worldwide from the company website, or at a discounted price on Amazon.
The company trades on the Over-the-counter Bulletin Board (OTCBB) under the symbol HJOE (Hangover Joe’s Holding Corporation).
Disclosure: Roll Like Boss owners or contributors do not have investments in Hangover Joe’s at time of writing.
